For Sale Rare Civil War Handcuffs Mfg by FWSM with original key
FW•SM Handcuffs are rare. Not much is known about the origins other than they were manufactured in England in the middle 1800’s.
They went thru several iterations starting with the father Fitzwilliam and then probably his son joining the firm becoming Fitzwilliam and Sons Manufacturing.
The FW•SM handcuffs have a very distinct design to them reflecting the often less than perfect manufactured items.
These handcuffs were probably made under contract and sent to the United States to aid in the Civil War as several pairs have turned up with what appears to be army markings.
This set is in very good working order and comes with the original key.
The cuffs are marked FW•SM
